Cel mai recent incident in care a fost implicata o aeronava ce a fost nevoita sa treaca printr-o furtuna cu grindina s-a intamplat pe 11 noiembrie 2016, cand o aeronava CRJ-700 inregistrata ZS-NBF apartinand companiei South African Express Airways Canadair care efectua zborul XZ-1113/SA-1113 de la Johannesburg la Kimberley (Africa de Sud), la coborarea catre Kimberley a intrat intr-o furtuna cu grindina care a dus la deformari ale radomului (nasul sau botul avionului).
Putem considera acest incident minor avand in vedere istoria recenta cand pe 9 AUG 2015 datorita grindinei o aeronava Airbus A320 apartinand companiei Delta airlines a fost nevoita sa aterizeze de urgenta dupa ce a trecut printr-o furtuna cu grindina.
